Jerome Gilson is the original author of Trademark Protection and Practice, a standard treatise in the field which has been re-named Gilson on Trademarks. A partner in the Chicago firm of Brinks Gilson & Lione, Gilson has worked extensively in drafting trademark legislation that has been enacted by Congress, such as the Trademark Law Revision Act of 1988 and the Federal Trademark Dilution Act of 1995.
Gilson has served on the International Trademark Association (INTA) Board of Directors and was counsel to the association (the highest position for private practice lawyers) for three years. He serves on the INTA Past Presidents and Past Counsel Advisory Board. Gilson was the first person to be awarded a lifetime achievement award by Managing Intellectual Property and in 2003 was ranked one of the top five US trademark practitioners in Euromoney’s Best of the Best Expert Guide, receiving the most votes worldwide.
